“The University Dental Center Performs First Dental Treatment Under General Anesthesia.”
The University Dental Center has achieved Canadian accreditation thanks to its outstanding accomplishments. On Sunday, September 22, 2024, the center performed its first dental treatment on a child under general anesthesia. This procedure is considered a significant advancement in dentistry, as it is utilized for patients with a severe fear of traditional treatments and during surgical operations that require general anesthesia due to the ineffectiveness of local anesthesia.
The treatment was carried out by Dr. Rafiq Al-Kawafi, a specialist in oral surgery and the Director of the University’s Dental Program, while the anesthetic was managed by Dr. Iman Al-Hassi, a specialist in anesthesia and critical care and the Director of the Clinical Skills Center, with the assistance of anesthesia technician Mr. Ahmed Al-Maghrabi.
This achievement reflects the center’s commitment to providing exceptional and effective healthcare, enhancing the confidence of patients and their families in the services offered.
