About Faculty of Dentistry

 

The Faculty of Dentistry at LIMU is an excellent example of quality of medical education in Libya. Also it aspires to become an effective tool for the modernization of innovative medical services in the field of Oral and Dental Health. At the same time LIMU endeavours to contribute to raising the level of professional performance with the purpose of ensuring that its graduates are highly skilled dentists. These graduates will be familiar with the requirements of the profession, its ethics and practices in full compliance with local and international accreditation standards

Dean\’s Message

It gives me great honor and happiness to welcome you to the website of the Faculty of Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the Libyan International Medical University.

Three years ago, this Faculty celebrated its second decade, since its foundation. Now its local and regional standing is stronger, as a pioneering and respected Faculty in its field of specialization.

Its foundation and continuity constitute a remarkable addition to medical education and active professional practice in the field of oral and dental health and medicine. This stemmed from the vision for the Faculty to become locally and internationally an advanced and accredited center.

So far, seven classes graduated from the Faculty. The graduates from these classes proved through their abilities in providing health services in the public and private sectors. They demonstrated their abilities through their involvement in postgraduate programs abroad, through their serious contribution to scientific conferences at home and abroad and through participation in community activities that they are at the level that we have been aspiring to achieve. They proved that they possess the capability, skill, competence, and commitment to the university\’s ethical code and the professional code of conduct.

We are also proud of the level of trust and the distinguished relationship that was developed between our graduates and their Faculty. This relationship was accomplished by creating the right environment for learning and acquiring the necessary skills through advanced curricula that respond to the challenges and requirements of the age, through modern learning methods that make the student the focus of the educational process, and encouraging creativity, innovation and evidence-based lifelong learning.

The Faculty is proud that it has filled, for three consecutive years, the available capacity through the optimal selection of the best applicants according to the standards of competence and ability and passing the prescribed entrance examinations. This was reflected by the impressive student results in recent years.

As much as we are proud of what we have accomplished, however the ambitions, hopes and challenges are still momentous. Work in the next stage, based on the Faculty and University’s strategic plans includes the strong and confident launch of the Graduate Studies Programs and encouraging scientific research.

What was been achieved in this Faculty would not have materialized, had it not been for the sincere and collective efforts of a distinguished team that worked with us in various stages since its founding and until now, and for the continuous and effective support of the University Presidency and administrative staff.

Mission of the Faculty

The faculty of Dentistry provides high quality, up-to-date, innovative dental medicine and surgery  education. To achieve this the faculty Provides a unique scientific and educational environment that stimulates creativity, innovation and encourages students to become self-learners. Our educational methods are based on scientific evidence, problem based learning, in order to help the students become self-directed learners, lifelong learners and research oriented.
